Massive news on Jofra Archer’s availability for Indian T20 League 2022
Mumbai got a steal deal and roped in England pacer Jofra Archer for INR 8 crore in the mega auction. Archer was unlikely to feature in the 2022 season of the Indian T20 League due to his elbow injury yet, the franchise invested in him for the future.
However, in some great news for the fans, rumours started doing rounds that Archer will play in the upcoming season as well. This happened after a few videos of Archer bowling in the nets went viral. Fans went berserk as they felt that Archer is fit and will play in the 2022 edition. However, much to the disappointment of fans, Archer is still not fully fit and needs a bit more time to be back on the field. He will join the team for the 2023 season.
Meanwhile, recently spoke on his hefty price tag and said that he wants to be remembered for his performances than the price tag. According to the pacer, he got such a high price tag because he was in demand with other franchises.
“I want people to know that if you don’t play you don’t get paid. I want people to see me as a player and not as a price like that behind me. You only got that money because other teams wanted you,” said Jofra Archer, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
Archer also revealed how he got to know about his signing. “I had to go on ITL website to see the video of it. I was training. Then my phone started to go up, back to back messages. I think Hyderabad and Mumbai team went for me. When I saw my phone, I knew exactly what happened. I really got excited. It’s a great franchise. Mahela (Jayawardene, the MI coach) was my first franchise coach as well. Polly (Kieron Pollard) as well, played a few games against him. This is the first time ever I will be playing in the same team with him. Really excited to get started,” he said.
