The first T2OI between India and South Africa was cancelled without even the toss taking place. The reason behind the move was incessant rains which did not even let the players walk onto the field.

The second game of the tournament will be played on Tuesday at the ST George’s Park. The rained-out match meant India was denied crucial T20 practice ahead of next year’s World Cup.

Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian Cricket Team will now have to wait till Tuesday for the 2nd game. The first game on Sunday in Durban was called off due to rain. There were massive puddles on the ground and this caused the umpires to take the decision.

Match gets called off due to rain

Both teams came to the ground despite Durban witnessing a massive overnight downpour. Fans braved the rain as they waited to get a glimpse of their favourite stars who had made their way to the ground.

The cameras panned to the Indian dressing room as they looked at the overcast conditions. Indian coach Rahul Dravid was in deep conversations with a few of the players. The 50-year-old is back in the saddle after taking a break during the T20I series against Australia.

It was widely expected that VVS Laxman would take over the Indian coaching reins. The Indian Cricket Board though managed to convince Rahul Dravid to sign an extension. As per the new contract, Rahul Dravid will coach India till the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had already pulled out of the white ball series in South Africa. The two veteran batters will be back for the 2-match test series set to begin on 26th December in Centurion.

Hardik Pandya as per reports is set to be fit sooner than expected. The 30-year-old could be seen playing for India during the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in January. There is still suspense over the next Indian T20I skipper after Jay Shah’s latest comments on Rohit Sharma.

Here’s how the fans reacted –
