Former South Africa player Faf du Plessis has thanked the Chennai team and its fans for the memories over the years. The first time Plessis started playing for the team was in 2011. In 2016, he was signed by now-defunct Pune as Chennai was suspended for two years. In 2018, he came back into the team as the franchise was also bought back.

Last year, he was released by the four-time winners. On February 12, he entered into the auction with a base price of 2 crores INR. Three teams such as Delhi, Chennai, and Bangalore bid for the right-hander but eventually Bangalore won the battle at 7 crores. Du Plessis was Chennai’s best performer in the last two years.

Meanwhile, the former South Africa skipper thanked the Men In Yellow for the special memories. “I just want to thank Chennai, the fans, the staff and management and players for what has been a decade as one team. We created a lot of special memories and it’s important for me to say thank you”, said Du Plessis in a video posted on the Chennai Super King’s official Twitter handle.

Plessis further added that he will miss everyone in the team. “I’ve enjoyed my time a lot, I miss everyone there. But if one door closes and a new one opens up and that comes up with great opportunities and I’m excited to see what the future holds,” he added.
