Team India has announced their lineup for the upcoming West Indies tour after losing another WTC Final. It’s been reported that some of the star players, like Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, and Mohammed Shami, were left out for the forthcoming Test, ODI, and T20I series against the West Indies. According to reports, Indian seamer Shami has requested from India captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid that he take a short break during the series against the Windies.

Notably, Veteran batter Pujara was not picked up for the West Indies tour, which is scheduled to begin on July 12. Umesh Yadav, however, is unlikely to be considered for the upcoming series as a result of an injury. The ODI World Cup 2023 is drawing near, and Shami, who won a purple cap in the recently concluded Indian Premier League, needs to take charge of his workload. The 32-year-old has been the go-to bowler for Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya in both international and IPL cricket.

Last year, the right-arm fast bowler missed the tours of both New Zealand and Bangladesh that followed quickly after his inclusion at the last moment for the T20 World Cup in November held in Australia, and this year also he was rested for an ODI series against New Zealand and a Test match against Australia in Indore.

Team India typically follows an extremely packed schedule and got an exceptional month off following the World Test Championship final loss to the Aussies. Notably, India is all set to lock horns against the Caribbean side on July 12. However, the majority of the players have left on vacation, while some even approached the Indian cricket board to delay their travels to the Caribbean for a few days since they have a hectic schedule from September until the World Cup’s completion in November.

The India cricket team’s roster for the three ODIs and the two Tests against the West Indies has been revealed by the Indian Cricket Board. Later, the lineup for the five T20Is will be released. On top of that, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Mukesh Kumar, three new players, have been included in India’s Test group.
