The South African team is on a tour to India for a five-match T20I series. The first match of the series will be taking place on the 9th of June, 2022 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Both the teams are looking forward to testing their team combinations keeping in mind the T20 World Cup scheduled later this year in Australia.

As per reports, South Africa’s latest sensation Tristan Stubbs will be getting to play his debut match in international cricket in the first T20I match against India. The rumors have gained air after Stubbs was seen spending extra time with the Head Coach of the South African team after the training session on Tuesday.

Stubbs recently made it to the headlines when the Mumbai franchise roped him in as a substitute for the Indian T20 League 2022. He has earned a reputation on the back of brilliant exploits in the domestic arena for his team Eastern Province. This has also earned him the maiden call-up to the national team. The biggest USP of the 21-year-old batter is his big-hitting skills. Just like the Mumbai franchise was impressed by the young batter, the South African team has also not wasted any time in including Stubbs in their T20 squad. From the intense conversations that he was seen having with Mark Boucher, Stubbs is likely to make his entry into the international arena.

Speaking of Stubbs’ career in the domestic arena, he got to play only two matches for Mumbai in ITL 2022. Though he was not able to score big on both occasions, his reputation has developed from his performances in the South African domestic circuit. He has scored 506 runs in 17 T20 matches for the Warriors team in South Africa’s T20 Challenge. Stubbs also has a reputation for finishing matches by smacking big sixes. The series against India will be a big scope for the young batter to showcase his talents and make a mark in the international arena.
