WWE Hall of Famer, Teddy Long has revealed that he came to know about the passing of Eddie Guerrero when it was shown on the television day after the latter’s death. Guerrero died in 2005 at the age of 38 because of heart failure. He was on the top of his game back then and destined to be one of the greatest for the years to come.

Performers from WWE and AEW often pay tributes to Guerrero on Television, remembering the influence he made through his in-ring work. Long revealed that the first person he saw that morning was Fin Finlay before he got to know about Guerrero’s death. He was shaking hands with him but Finlay didn’t look in a good mood.

“The way I found it out is I didn’t even know until I got to TV that morning and I walked in and the first person I saw was Fin Finlay. I’m jolly, smiling and shaking hands but he didn’t look in a good mood. He looks at me and says, ‘well, I guess, you don’t know.’ And I said what and then he told me about Eddie. My whole persona just changed because I had just seen him but what can you do,” said Teddy Long as quoted by Sportskeeda.

Long recalled Guerrero’s fight with Kurt Angle

Long also recalled the details of a backstage fight between Guerrero and Kurt Angle. Angle and Guerrero were close friends, but still, things became a little stiff between them during the match. Long revealed that many performers had to intervene to pull them apart.

“There’s nothing bad you can say about Kurt. Kurt was the real deal, man. I can never forget the time when Kurt and Eddie were in the ring, and it got real stiff. And once they came back after the match, they continued backstage and we had to break them up. These two guys were the real deal,” said Long.

Guerrero and Angle have shared great chemistry inside the ring, and their WrestleMania 20 match is one of the most memorable encounter.
