The New Zealand cricket team suffered a narrow loss in their sixth game of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia on October 28 at the HPCA stadium in Dharamshala. However, despite the close loss, Black Caps star batsman Rachin Ravindra has been receiving praise from all corners owing to his magnificence against five-time world champion Australia. The southpaw hammered 116 runs from 89 balls, featuring nine boundaries and five sixes to boost their middle order.

However, following his wonderful knock, Rachin Ravindra was spotted addressing a press conference. The 23-year-old star batsman was asked about the support of Indian fans for him due to his Indian roots. The young all-rounder clarified that he is surely a Kiwi, even though he feels proud of having Indian roots as his parents and family were born in India itself.

“Oh, well, I think, I’ve been asked this question a lot, but I guess I’m 100% Kiwi and I’m very proud of my Indian heritage. But I guess it’s proud to be able to do it in the country where my parents were born and where they grew up and where a lot of my family is,” Rachin Ravindra said in the press conference.

The left-handed batsman also praised the Indian crowd while calling them the best fans for supporting the other teams as well in the Stadium. The top-order batsman reveals that it was his childhood dream to witness fans chanting his name in the cricket stadium. Moreover, the left-arm spinner was enthusiastic to see fans supporting Australia as well when Neesham was batting at the end of the game.

“Yeah, I think this was probably one of the best crowds we’ve played in India and having that sort of fanfare and the response, like how they responded to the game was pretty special, I think. As a kid, you always dream of the crowd chanting your name and it was cool to see them do that on multiple occasions even when Aussie were batting and when Nish [Neesham] did his thing at the end,” he added further.
