‘Next two free points for Peshawar Zalmi’ – Fans express disappointment as Karachi Kings go down against Multan Sultans without fight and lose by 55 runs in PSL 2024

Multan Sultans

Multan Sultans beat Karachi Kings by 55 runs to start their campaign in the PSL 2024. The home side ensured that Karachi were never in the game with their brilliant bowling efforts. The incredible all-round performance from the Sultans meant that the Kings were humbled in the game. The poor bowling performance of the Kings cost them the match.

Batting first, the Sultans did not have a good start to their innings. Dawid Malan and Mohammad Rizwan struggled to get going. Rizwan was undone for just 11(12). Reeza Hendricks joined Malan and steadied the innings. The efforts of the duo helped the Sultans to revive their innings. On a slow pitch, the Sultans got a lot more than they should have. Poor bowling from the Kings did not help their cause.

There were many loose ones and extras conceded by the Kings. Reeza was good after getting set and helped the Sultans to finish on a good note. It was Khushdil Shah’s innings that made the difference between a par score and a winning score. The finisher smashed 28 runs in 13 balls and provided the perfect impetus to the innings of the Sultans. 186 was not going to be easy. The bowling of the Sultans only made the life of the Karachi Kings difficult.

Shoaib Malik wages lone war for Karachi Kings

Some terrific new ball bowling from Mohammad Ali and David Willey gave the early lead to the Sultans in defending the total. In the middle overs phase, the duo of Usama Mir and Abbas Afridi not only contained runs but also picked wickets at crucial junctures. Their spells took the game away from the Kings. Only Shoaib Malik was impressive with the bat for the Kings, who waged a lone war for the chasing side.

His wicket ensured the end of Kings’ chances. David Willey claimed 2 wickets early in the innings. Mohammad Ali cleaned up the tail by claiming 3 wickets. Usama Mir bowled a miserly spell of 1/14 in his 4 overs. Abbas Afridi took two wickets and damaged the chances of the Kings. From 99/3 at one stage, the Kings collapsed till there was no way back.
