‘Pakistan qualified for Karachi Bus stand’ – Fans react as England wins the toss against Pakistan in ODI World Cup 2023

Pakistan and England will lock horns for the last time in the league stage of the ODI World Cup 2023 on 11th November at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. While the defending champions England has already been eliminated from the ODI World Cup 2023, Pakistan has the last chance to win the game and improve their net run rate to remove New Zealand from the number fourth position of the points table.

Pakistan will have to restrict England to a low score to win the game with a good run rate, even though it will be next to impossible. If England scores 50, 100, 150, 200 or 300, Pakistan will have to chase any of the following scores within 2.0, 2.5, 3.4, 4.3 or 6.1 overs respectively.

“We’re gonna bat first. Looks like a good wicket, looks a bit dry and we want to make first use of it. We are going with the same team today. It’s always good to break a losing streak. We would look to try and do justice to ourselves. (On David Willey) Emotional day for him, he has been great for us. So, we talked about trying to enjoy it and take it all in”, said Jos Buttler After winning the toss against Pakistan Pakistan and choosing to bat first.

Babar Azam on losing the toss against English in the ODI World Cup 2023

“We wanted to bat first, but the toss is not in our hands. We have good bowlers and we would look to bowl them out cheaply. We have one change – Hasan Ali is not playing and Shadab Khan comes in his place. We are looking forward to Fakhar’s batting. We will try our best”, said Babar Azam after losing the toss.

Pakistan (Playing XI): Abdullah Shafique, Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam(c), Mohammad Rizwan(w), Saud Shakeel, Iftikhar Ahmed, Agha Salman, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Haris Rauf

England (Playing XI): Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler(w/c), Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, David Willey, Gus Atkinson, Adil Rashid

“A bit of a mixed bag to be honest. We are standing at the fifth position, coming into the World Cup the dream was to finish at the top and at least reach the semis. With the ball and bat, we have been soft in certain situations. There were plenty of things we can point fingers at. Another opportunity for us today to put up a big performance and it will be a test of our character”, said the Pakistan team’s bowling coach Morne Morkel after the toss.
