After losing the last fixture against Mumbai Indians (MI), Gujarat Titans (GT) locked horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahmedabad on Monday. The Titans won the match by 34 runs and Shubman Gill was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant century in the first innings.

Shubman Gill scored 101 runs off 58 balls with 13 fours and a six in his innings. Shubman Gill continues to demonstrate why he is possibly the next great thing in Indian cricket, earning accolades from star India batter Virat Kohli. For the GT against the SRH on Monday in Ahmedabad, Gill struck a brilliant hundred.

This also enabled his team to triumph by 34 runs and secure a spot in Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2023. Gill has consistently performed to the best of his ability, according to Kohli, who tweeted a story about it on Instagram.

“There’s potential and then there’s Gill. Go on and lead the next generation. God bless you @shubmangill” Kohli wrote in his Instagram story.

Although Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma play for separate IPL franchises, they open together in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Punjab in domestic cricket. They get along well and naturally joked around before the game. Gill talked about his challenge to Abhishek to smash a six against his left-arm spin and how he accepted it.

“I made my IPL debut against SRH and got my first hundred against them, so life has come a full circle. Hopefully many more to come. It’s all about the bowlers and situation and I don’t dwell much on my last innings. It is important to focus on the situation in front. The six off Abhishek Sharma was the most pleasing thing for me. I told him that if you bowl to me I’m gonna hit you for a six,” Gill was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation.
