Virat Kohli did not play in the Test series against England. Their second child ‘Akaay’ was born in London. That’s why Virat was not playing. In such a situation Sunil Gavaskar made a cheeky comment on Virat, who became father for the second time. Gavaskar also made such comments when Virat had his first child.

Former India skipper was kept in the squad against England. But before the first test, he informed the Indian Cricket Board that he would not play in the first two Tests due to personal reasons. Later, the star batter of India removed himself from the entire series. He has not yet said whether he will play IPL or not. In such a situation, former India legend Sunil Gavaskar made a speculation about Virat.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of IPL 2024 on March 22

“Kya woh khelenge… kuchh reason ke liye khel nahin rahe hain, shaayad ho sakta hai ke IPL ke liye bhi na khele (Will he play… He is not playing because of some reason, perhaps he may not play in IPL as well),” Sunil Gavaskar said this in a Star Sports Event at Ranchi.

India did not get Virat in the entire series. There was no Mohammed Shami either. Lokesh Rahul is out due to injury in second, third and fourth Tests. Shreyas Iyer dropped due to lack of form. Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah were also rested. After all those things India won the series against a strong England side. Gavaskar took a jab at Virat here as well, saying, “To win the series without so many big names is really unbelievable.”

Virat’s first child ‘Vamika’ was born in 2021. At that time too, Virat returned home after playing the first Test against Australia. In the first Test in Adelaide, the team’s innings ended for 36 runs. Gavaskar was furious that time for Virat’s return, leaving the team in such a situation. Said, he did not take any leave from cricket during the birth of his son Rohan. Virat, however, did not listen. India also won that series led by Ajinkya Rahane. India beat England without Virat this time too.
