PM Narendra Modi and popstar Dua Lipa among special guests for ODI World Cup 2023 final in Ahmedabad

After 1.5 months of non-stop and thrilling action the world’s biggest cricket tournament, the ODI World Cup 2023 is about to conclude with one final match remaining. The ODI World Cup 2023 was conducted in India across 10 multiple venues and the tournament witnessed some of the most iconic moments in the history of the sport. 

Notably, the apex cricket Council has invited all the former World Cup-winning captains to witness the finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 19 November. Several celebrities like the Hollywood pop sensation Dua Lipa, PM Narendra Modi and many more are expected to grace the world’s biggest cricket stadium followed by an Indian Air Force show. 

India and Australia will lock horns once again in the finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 after meeting each other after 20 years for the final of the 2003 edition of the ODI World Cup. India beat New Zealand in the first semi-final of the tournament by 70 runs to qualify for the finals while Australia beat South Africa Africa by three wickets in the second semi-final match to qualify for the finals.

In the post-match ceremony after qualifying for the finals, Indian captain Rohit Sharma said, “Today being the semifinal, won’t say there was no pressure, whenever you play there’s pressure. Semifinal adds a bit extra, we wanted to not think too much about it, just do what we’ve been doing like in the first nine games. Things came off for us nicely in the second half.” 

After qualifying for the finals the Australian captain Pat Cummins said, “Few of us have played in a final before, couple of other guys in a T20 World Cup final, the stadium is going to be packed, mostly going to be one-sided but it’s about embracing it. 2015 World Cup was a career highlight, so to be playing another final in India, we are very happy as a unit, can’t wait.”
