Rajat Patidar‘s fortunes have changed in less than 24 hours. He has shot to fame after hitting a match-winning century against Lucknow on May 25. However, things weren’t so easy for the uncapped Indian player. The right-hander, who played for Bangalore last year, went unsold as the franchise didn’t bid for him. The Madhya Pradesh was with his family during the Indian T20 League 2022.

He was about to get married during the course of the tournament. However, a month ahead of his big day, he got a call-up from the franchise after Luvnith Sisodia got injured and was ruled out for the season. Patidar accepted the offer to play for the team and postponed the big event. His father has revealed that his son was set to get married on May 9. He added that it was supposed to be a small function and a hotel was booked in Indore.

Now, with the Jr. Patidar playing in the biggest T20 League, the wedding has been postponed to July. The reason for that is Junior will play for his state team in the second phase of the Ranji Trophy, which was scheduled to be completed after the Indian T20 League 2022.

“The plan was to get him married on May 9. It was supposed to be a small function and I had booked a hotel too in Indore,” Manohar Patidar, Rajat’s father, was quoted as saying by The New Indian Express.

“The marriage was not supposed to be a grand affair, so we didn’t get invitation cards printed. I have booked a hotel for limited guests but the booking has been advanced as we plan to hold the function in July once he is free from his responsibility with the Madhya Pradesh Ranji team,” he added.

The 28-year-old innings helped his side win the Eliminator game and step closer to the title race. They will now head to Ahmedabad and play Rajasthan in Qualifier 2.
