Team India suffered two major blows after all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and middle-order batter KL Rahul were ruled off the second Test due to injury. England lead the five-match Test series by 1-0, after winning the first Test by 28 runs in Hyderabad. It’s a huge blow for team India before the start of the second Test.
The star all-rounder of India was in discomfort and pain after being an incredible run out by English skipper Ben Stokes on Sunday. He was in discomfort when he left the field on Sunday.
Sarfaraz Khan gets his maiden call-up
The men’s selection committee has added Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar and Washington Sundar to India’s squad for the second Test. Meanwhile, The 30-year-old spinner from Madhya Pradesh, Saransh Jain has been named as a replacement for Sundar in the India A squad for the third and final game against England Lions starting on February 1. While Avesh Khan will continue to travel with his Ranji Trophy team, Madhya Pradesh and will join the Test squad if required.
Indian Cricket Board released, Jadeja sustained a hamstring injury during play on Day 4 of the first Test in Hyderabad while Rahul complained of a right quadriceps pain. The players are being monitored by the Indian Cricket Board’s medical team.
“Mr Ravindra Jadeja and Mr KL Rahul have been ruled out of the second IDFC First Bank Test against England in Vizag, starting February 02, 2024. Jadeja sustained a hamstring injury during play on Day 4 of the first Test in Hyderabad while Rahul complained of right quadriceps pain. Indian Cricket Board Medical Team is monitoring the progress of the duo,” the Indian Cricket Board said in a statement on Monday.
