Real Madrid wins yet another UEFA Super Cup after defeating Eintracht Frankfurt

Real Madrid has started their 2022-23 season with a UEFA Super Cup title win as they beat Eintracht Frankfurt in the final. Frankfurt had won the Europa cup early in the season. This is Madrid’s fifth title which is a record for the team. For the White Brigade, players such as David Alaba and Karim Benzema scored one goal each which proved to be decisive in the end.

On the other hand, the German side had a few chances but missed them. After the game, the winning team manager Carlo Ancelotti said that the game was difficult for them at the start but after scoring two goals, they felt that they were in control. The playing XI of the team didn’t change at all since the Champions League final in May this year, which they won. Speaking on the team, the manager said that the players are comfortable playing with each other.

“It was a difficult game, at the start they were so close [together] with a low block and we had difficulty, but after we scored the first one at the end of the first half we had more control. We didn’t take risks, we didn’t play a game with super intensity but I think we had good control.

They’re used to playing together, they are comfortable, they know each other, so for them it’s simple to play together, to find the right time of the game to sometimes play a low block and use a counter attack, they’re so used to playing together.” – Carlo Ancelotti said.

On the other hand, the team’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois said that the team had a good preseason and that they are happy to win the tournament. He pointed out that there were a few issues in the team’s defence but got a lot of chances to score.

“We’re happy. We’ve had a good preseason, we’re ready, we’ve started well. There were one or two issues in defence but then we had a lot of chances to score with a larger margin. But the important thing is to win with a clean sheet, it’s our third final in 2022 and our third clean sheet, that’s very important.”

“The second half was calmer, they had one (chance) at the end but without too much difficulty. Good defensive work always helps. When we defend well we’ll always have a chance to win.” — Thibaut Courtois said.
