Reasons for Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari from Mercedes revealed
Recently, British Formula One driver, Lewis Hamilton ended his long-time association with Mercedes. He has moved to Ferrari and will represent them in 2025. This decision has left the motorsport community shocked as the Britisher was synonymous with the team. Despite signing an extension of two years, the 39-year-old triggered a release clause, making his way into the Ferrari for the 2025 season.
The 2024 season will be his last with the Mercedes. In a statement, Hamilton stated that 1his 11 years with the team has been amazing which is why when he decided to move on, it was a tough decision. He added that it is the right time to move on.
“I have had an amazing 11 years with this team and I’m so proud of what we have achieved together. Mercedes has been part of my life since I was 13 years old,” Hamilton said in a team statement.
“It’s a place where I have grown up, so making the decision to leave was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. But the time is right for me to take this step and I’m excited to be taking on a new challenge.”
Meanwhile, even though he may not have expressed the reasons why he moved on, a report from RacingNews365, that Loic Serra’s departure from Mercedes significantly influenced Hamilton’s decision. Formerly serving as Mercedes’ Head of Vehicle Performance, Serra was recruited by Ferrari for their 2025 season.

Hamilton has been vocal about his reservations with the car even during the 2023 season.
“Last year, I told them the issues that are with the car. I’ve driven so many cars in my life, so I know what a car needs, I know what a car doesn’t need.
“And I think it’s really about accountability, it’s about owning up and saying ‘yeah, you know what, we didn’t listen to you, it’s not where it needs to be and we’ve got to work’.”
