‘Respect’ – Twitter lauds Iftikhar Ahmed as he offers his lap to Azhar Ali during drinks break
Australia and Pakistan are facing off against each other in a historic Test series. Australia is touring Pakistan after a gap of 24 years. In the first two Tests of the historic series, fans were left frustrated as both the contests ended in draws. After the first two matches, the third and final test of the series is taking place at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.
In the third Test. Australia won the toss and decided to bat first. While Australian innings was still underway during the second day, a great moment was witnessed that warmed the hearts of the fans. It was drinks break on the second day of the Test when the Pakistani batter Iftikhar Ahmed came into the field with drinks for the players. While giving drinks, he offered his lap to his senior player Azhar Ali for resting.

The image of the incident went viral on Twitter. Immediately, the fans started reacting to this heartwarming gesture from Ahmed. They lauded the mutual respect between the players on display.

Notably, Iftikhar Ahmed is not a part of the final Xi for Pakistan in the third test. Australia, after batting first in the match, put up a total of 391 runs in their first innings. Usman Khawaja was the highest scorer for the team with 91 runs. Pakistan, in reply to Australia’s batting effort has scored 192 runs for the loss of 2 wickets from 81 overs at the time of writing. Opener Abdullah Shafique gave a good start to the team, scoring 81 runs before being dismissed by Nathan Lyon. At present Azhar Ali (74 runs) and Babar Azam (16 runs) are at the crease.
