SA vs IND: Harbhajan Singh suggests one change in India’s playing XI for Cape Town Test
The third Test between India and South Africa is set to get underway from January 11 in Cape Town. India is likely to make a few changes to their XI. While Virat Kohli is set to return to the team after missing out on the Johannesburg Test owing to a back spasm, Mohammed Siraj is also struggling with a hamstring injury and is almost certain to miss out.
While it is speculated that Ishant Sharma will replace Siraj in the team, Harbhajan feels India should play two spinners in Cape Town. “It is important to play two spinners in Cape Town. This pitch definitely helps the spinners,” Harbhajan said on his YouTube channel.
Harbhajan’s best figures in overseas Tests came at the same venue. He cited the same record to back his views of going in with two spinners. “Whenever I have played there, I have got help. My best figures (overseas) have come there when I had taken seven wickets. There are a lot of other spinners who have done well there so I feel India should go in with two spinners. Rahul Dravid and the entire team management has to take a call on who will assist Ravichandran Ashwin from the other end,” Harbhajan said.
Apart from Ashwin, India have Jayant Yadav in the squad. However, it will be a big surprise if India does opt for two spinners as they have always favoured playing four pacers in overseas conditions.
