SA vs IND: Meme fest ensues as India fails to conquer ‘Final Frontier’ post seven-wicket loss in Cape Town

Team India’s wait to register their maiden Test series win on South African soil continues after a humiliating seven-wicket loss in the third and final Test at Newlands, Cape Town on Friday. The Indian bowlers could not produce any miracles on the penultimate day of the contest as they could only manage to pick just a solitary wicket which was never going to be enough with only 111 runs needed to be chased down in two days.

As the Indian team’s quest to conquer the ‘Final Frontier’ prolongs, the passionate cricket buffs came forward to have a gala time on social media and were indulged in some hilarious meme fests as Kohli & Co. ended up conceding the Test series after having drawn first blood in Centurion.

Coming back to the contest, the visitors enjoyed 13-run first-innings lead riding on pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah’s fifer as South Africa were bundled out for 210 in reply to India’s 223, courtesy of a gutsy 79 from skipper Virat Kohli who was the lone warrior in their innings.

In the second innings, the top-ranked Test side was reeling at 58/4 before Kohli and Rishabh Pant carried out the rescue act with a 94-run stand for the fifth wicket. Virat Kohli played a supporting knock from one end while Pant took the attack to the bowlers from the other end. The stumper scored his fourth Test ton and remained unbeaten as well. India were bowled out for 198 thereby, setting a target of 212 runs.

In reply, Keegan Pietersen ensured a smooth ride for the hosts which kept them in the hunt despite losing skipper Dean Elgar before stumps on Day 3. Pietersen was bowled by Shardul Thakur for 82 on Day 4 but Rassie van der Dussen (41*) and Temba Bavuma (32*) took Proteas over the line to seal the three-match series 2-1.
