England had already wrapped up the ongoing Test series against the current World Test champions by winning the first two matches. But, in the third Test match, New Zealand’s Henry Nicholls got out in the most bizarre way possible in the first innings. He was batting against the English spinner Jack Leach as he came down the track to smash a half-volley delivery straight down the ground. But, the ball went fast and at the non-striker end, Daryl Mitchell failed to move away as the ball hit his bat and went to the hand of Alex Lees.

Jack Leach was in complete shock but his team members stated the celebration as the wicket was purely within the laws of the game. Speaking about this rare incident, Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar now came up with a hilarious verdict on his Twitter account. Even, after the end of the day’s play, Leach termed it as an unlucky moment for the Kiwi batter while a lucky one for himself and his team.

‘In gully cricket, we’d declare the non-striker out,’ – Sachin Wrote

Talking about the post, Sachin wrote a caption: ‘In gully cricket, we’d declare the non-striker out,’ as he shared the video of that incident.

Speaking about the laws of the game, this dismissal was completely under the law 33.2.2.3 which states that it will be out if a fielder catches the ball after it has touched the wicket, an umpire, another fielder, a runner, or the other batter.

Speaking about the match, while batting first, New Zealand was in a place of bother but it was again Daryl Mitchell (78* runs) and Tom Blundell (45* runs) who took the Kiwis to 225 runs for five wickets at the end of Day one. As of now, the Kiwis have reached up to 325 runs by losing eight wickets. Daryl Mitchell notched up another hundred in this series. England is on the mission of a clean sweep over the Kiwis by winning this match also.
