Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has reacted to a heartwarming appreciation post written by Sachin Tendulkar. The legendary cricketer watched the film 83 and lauded the performance of Ranveer, who played Kapil Dev in the movie. Tendulkar took to Twitter and appreciated the efforts taken by the actor to play Kapil in the movie. He felt Ranveer played the part perfectly and reminded him of that iconic day in 1983 when India stunned the two-time champions West Indies to win its first 50-over World Cup.

‘A brilliant ‘all-round’ display by @RanveerOfficial in 83. Really soaked in all the@therealkapildev paaji traits to make us reminisce the iconic moments of our first-ever World Cup victory. I know the win really inspired the little boy,’ wrote Tendulkar.

In the movie, a little Tendulkar can be seen as a cheerful little boy, who is engrossed watching the final live on TV. Ranveer kept that thing in mind and replied to the legendary cricketer by writing, “And then the little boy went on to inspire generations! Thank you, Master! This means everything!

The movie was released before Christmas in 2021 and has managed to get rave responses from the audience and cricket lovers across the globe. The film is based on India’s historic win in the 1983 50-over World Cup in England.

Led by Kapil Dev, India came as an underdog in the showpiece event. However, under the inspirational leadership of Kapil, the team believed they can beat top teams like West Indies and England. India beat West Indies in the group stage once and repeated the dose on the night of the final. The win inspired many of the youngsters to take up cricket. Tendulkar was one of the many young kids to pursue cricket and play for India.
