Indian skipper Rohit Sharma praised Virat Kohli after the conclusion of the second Test against the West Indies, in Port of Spain, on Monday. Throughout the Test series, the Mumbai-based batter was in good form, and in the second innings, he played some aggressive cricket against the West Indies bowlers, scoring the quickest half-century of the match. Virat Kohli scored his 29th Test century in the same match, demonstrating his class and endurance.

At Queen’s Park Oval, Virat Kohli’s performance propelled India to a magnificent first-innings total of 438. His 76th international century was achieved, and he became the first player to score a century in the 500th international match. With the second and final Test ending in a draw, Rohit’s men wrapped up the series 1-0 to retain the top spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings.

In the post-match, the 36-year-old complimented Virat Kohli and his contribution to India’s victory. He credited Kohli for helping to stabilize the innings and praised the other players for their contributions to the victory. The captain stressed the team’s dedication to constant progress and consistency, stating that they want to succeed in all facets of the game.

He stated, “In Test matches, you need guys who stabilise the innings like what Virat did, he played superbly. You need a mixture of everything. We have depth, we have got variety. We are in the right place. It’s about getting the job done.”

Virat Kohli touched many milestones in his 500th match. His ton saw him draw level with legendary Don Bradman, both having tied up 29 Test centuries in their respective careers. He also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar for the most centuries by an Indian batsman in the West Indies. The 34-year-old batter of Team India became the fifth-highest run-getter for Team India. It was also his first overseas century after five years. Mohammed Siraj won the player of the match for his excellent bowling figures of 5/60 in the first innings. India will play three-ODIs against the Caribbean Men.
