Sehwag, Yuvraj, Harbhajan to play in Legends League Cricket
Veteran Indian cricketers Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh will be representing Indian Maharajas in the upcoming Legends League Cricket (LLC). The tournament, which is set to commence on January 20 at the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Oman, will see retired cricketers in action. Three teams – Indian Maharaja’s, Asian Lions and Rest of the World will take part in the inaugural edition.
Apart from the three aforementioned cricketers, the India team will also have Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, S Badrinath, RP Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Naman Ojha, Manpreet Gony, Hemang Badani, Venugopal Rao, Munaf Patel, Sanjay Bangar, Nayan Mongia and Amit Bhandari at their disposal.
Meanwhile, the Asia Lions will have legends from Asian teams. The likes of Shoaib Akhtar, Shahid Afridi, Sanath Jayasuriya, Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga, Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammed Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Umar Gul and Asghar Afghan and Kamran Akmal will be part of the Asia Lions. The squad for the Rest of the World have not been announced yet.
Meanwhile, former India coach Ravi Shastri, who is the commissioner of the Legends Cricket League, feels that the Indian team will do well in the tournament. “Like true Kings, they will come, they would see and they would conquer. The Cricket Maharajas from India are coming together to take on the battlpe against the other two top teams from Asia and rest of the World. It would be the mother of all rivalries when Sehwag, Yuvraj, Bhajji play against Afridi, Murali, Chaminda, Shoaib, this will be a blast from the past for the fans,” he said
