Setback for Mumbai as star batter ruled out for remainder of Indian T20 League 2022
In a massive setback, star Mumbai batter Suryakumar Yadav has been ruled out of the Indian T20 League 2022. Yadav, one of the top performers for Mumbai this season, sustained an injury on the right forearm which prematurely ended his campaign. The development was confirmed in a statement by the franchise. Notably, Suryakumar Yadav also missed the first two games for Mumbai after sustaining a wrist injury. Meanwhile, BCCI will be keeping a keen eye on Yadav’s recovery ahead of some important international assignments.
“Suryakumar Yadav has sustained a muscle strain on the left fore arm and has been ruled out for the season. He has been advised to rest, in consultation with the BCCI medical team,” the franchise said in a statement.
Yadav scored 303 runs in eight games at an average of 43.29. He also hit three half centuries for the team. Notably, Mumbai is going through a torrid run in the Indian T20 League 2022. They became the first team to be knocked out of the Indian T20 League 2022 after losing eight of their 10 games. The team is currently up against Kolkata in their 11th game. The franchise hasn’t named any replacement from Yadav for the remaining games. Earlier, Tymal Mills was ruled out of the tournament due to injury after which Mumbai roped in South African star Tristan Stubbs.
Speaking about Mumbai’s match against Kolkata, the team won the toss and opted to bat. However, Venkatesh Iyer went bonkers from ball one. He scored 43 off 24 balls before being dismissed by Kumar Kartikeya. Kolkata are 65-1 in 6.2 overs a the time of writing. Mumbai brought in Ramandeep Singh in place of Yadav in the team.
