 Shahrukh Khan to own a new T20 team

Kolkata have been one of the most consistent teams in the Indian T20 League 2022. They have appeared in three Indian T20 League finals and have won the title two times.

Notably, Kolkata is owned by Red Chilles Entertainment. They have always spoken about their vision is setting up a successful franchise across the globe. The company has already got three teams in three different leagues around the world. Besides the Kolkata team in the Indian T20 League, the group also owns a team in the Caribbean Premier League and the Major League Cricket (MLC) in the USA.

As per the latest news, the franchise has extended itself now to the UAE T20 League. This will be their fourth team in different leagues across the world. Notably, the company owing the Kolkata team has Shah Rukh Khan and yesteryear Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla’s husband Jay Mehta sharing the stakes.

While talking about the new agreement, Shah Rukh Khan said: “For several years now, we have been expanding the Knight Riders brand globally and closely watching the potential for T20 cricket in the UAE. We are excited about becoming part of UAE’s T20 League, which no doubt will become hugely successful.”

“We feel fortunate to have been consistently recognized as a global brand in T20 cricket. As T20 cricket expands around the world, we are flattered by the regular invitations to play a major role in growing the sport across the world. We have had a keen interest in the developments in the UAE and our expansion is consistent with our long-term strategy,”- the CEO of Kolkata and Red Chillies entertainment, Venky Mysore said on the new development.
