Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has advised Virat Kohli to consider himself an ordinary player. Kohli is having a tough time as a batter in the ongoing Indian T20 League, playing for Bangalore. He is yet to hit a half-century so far. Notably, the right-hander is having a tough time in international as  well as he hasn’t scored a hundred since 2019.

Meanwhile, Akhtar has said that the Indian T20 League is a performance-based model and the former India skipper can be dropped from the team if doesn’t start performing. The former speedster added that Kohli must be going through thousands of thoughts. The 46-year-old, however, want him to focus on one thing at a time.

“It is a performance based IPL franchise model. No one will be spared, not even Virat Kohli. Even he can be dropped if he does not perform. Some of the things I can’t even say now. Not one but there are 10,000 things going on in his head. He is a good person, a good player and great cricketer, but I want him to just focus, on one thing at a time,” he said on his official YouTube channel.

The Rawalpindi-born player also said that Kohli needs to consider himself an ordinary player. He also added that people have already started pointing fingers at the former India skipper. “Consider yourself as a ordinary player, pick up your bat and just play. People have already started pointing fingers at Virat Kohli and it’s dangerous,” former pacer added.

In the ongoing cash-rich league, this is the first time Kohli is not leading the Bangalore side since 2012. He captained the team from 2013 to 2021. During this phase, the team qualified for playoffs in 2015, 2020, and 2021. This year, former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis is leading the team. Bangalore has won three and lost two matches so far in the tournament.
