Shocker for India as KL Rahul gets ruled out of 3rd Test match against England

KL Rahul has been ruled out of the 3rd Test match in Rajkot against England because of a knee injury. His exclusion is more like a big blow to India. He was only added to the squad for the final three Tests after receiving a fitness clearance. Moreover, Rahul had previously missed the second Test in Visakhapatnam because of a quadriceps injury.

Whether Ravindra Jadeja has fully recovered from the hamstring injury he sustained during the first Test in Hyderabad is still unknown. The third Test, which will be played on his home pitch, will feature Jadeja in the squad, but his participation is dependent upon receiving approval to play. With Virat Kohli missing for personal reasons, India already has a dearth of batting experience.

Moreover, Rahul’s absence increases the problem, as they did not select Shreyas Iyer for the final three Test matches. Thus, to have a strong middle order, the management will be hoping that Jadeja’s fitness is fine. In addition, the series will have a large number of young players, which could help the home team due to the absence of star players.

Devdutt Padikkal replaces KL Rahul in the 3rd Test against England

As KL Rahul has been ruled out of the 3rd Test, Devdutt Padikkal is set to make his Test debut against England. He will be replacing Rahul in the 3rd Test match. This is Padikkal’s maiden call in the Test team and will surely be a memorable one as it’s against England. He’ll get to play against the pace legend James Anderson.

Padikkal is in great form as he has just scored 151 and 36 against Tamil Nadu in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. This Ranji season, he has already scored 556 runs at an average of 92.66 in six innings. He has three centuries to his name, the biggest coming against Punjab (193) in the season’s first game. Padikkal made a mark for India A against the visiting England Lions in Ahmedabad, scoring 65, 21, and 105 runs before his most recent Ranji appearance.
