The Indian cricket team is set to face the West Indies in a two-match Test series starting July 12. After facing a humiliating defeat in the World Test Championship finals against Australia early this month, India will kick off their next WTC cycle against the West Indies. Ahead of the upcoming series, former Pakistani cricketer Kamran Akmal came up with a message for India skipper Rohit Sharma.

Fans and cricket pundits are constantly comparing Rohit’s style of captaincy with that of Virat Kohli. Speaking about the same, Akmal suggested Rohit present himself on the ground like Kohli used to do. He also presented his analysis of the Indian squad selected for the upcoming tour.

“It’s a balanced team. The Indian team needs to have a good start. I want Rohit Sharma to do better with the captaincy. Show your presence on the ground like Virat Kohli used to do. He has a chance. (Having said that, Rohit Sharma has done a decent job so far after what went down with the Kohli saga,” Akmal said on his YouTube channel while analysing the squad.

You could have given him a signal: Kamran Akmal of Sarfaraz Khan.

Speaking about the selections, Kamran Akmal initially praised the selectors for their brave decisions. However, he further slammed them for not picking Sarfaraz Khan despite his performance in domestic cricket. He said, “There is always a debate regarding one or two players. One player that comes to mind after seeing the records is Sarfaraz Khan.”

“Playing him wasn’t possible, but he should’ve travelled with the team. You could’ve told him that we are not ignoring you and that there’s always a chance of you coming in the future. There was the perfect time to put him on the squad. Also, Umran Malik, with the pace he has, could’ve been lethal. The pitch is dry in the West Indies, and with the Dukes ball, there will be a reverse swing,” he added.

Notably, India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, will tour the West Indies for a two-match Test series starting on July 12. It will be followed by a three-match ODI series and a five-match T20I series. India has announced their squad for the Test and ODI series, while the T20I squad is still not revealed.
