India lost their second consecutive World Test Championship (WTC) final when they lost to Australia by 209 runs on Sunday, June 11 at The Oval in London. The controversial dismissal of Indian opener, Shubman Gill in the second innings of India’s batting on day four caught the attention of not only cricket fans but of most of the people and some people questioned the third umpire’s decision as well. Bollywood actress, Shraddha Kapoor also took a dig at the third umpire while posting on social media.

Australia set a mammoth total of 444 runs to chase for India. In reply, the Rohit Sharma-led side lost the wicket of Gill at a score of 41 which was a controversial decision. The 23-year-old got dismissed on Scott Boland’s ball which was brilliantly caught by Cameron Green. The decision went upstairs and third umpire, Richard Kettleborough gave him out. He was sent back to the pavilion after scoring just 18 runs off 19 balls which included two fours in his innings.

Here is Shraddha Kapoor’s post:

Australia only team to win all major titles of Cricket

Many people showed their disappointment toward Kettleborough’s decision and criticized him on social media. Among them, one was Indian actress, Shraddha Kapoor took to her social media handle and trolled the third umpire by offering him almonds, which help the brain to work properly. Shraddha targeted the umpire indirectly on her Instagram story and wrote, “Me offering badam (almond) to Third Umpire.”

If we talk about the game, team India lacked in all three departments: batting, bowling and fielding. Many people criticised Indian management for excluding Ravichandran Ashwin, who is the leading wicket-taker in the WTC 2021-23 cycle. Some people stated that India should have batted first while other people criticized Indian bowlers for their poor performance.

After the victory over India in WTC final 2023, Australia became the first team to won all the major tournaments of cricket. Australia defeated the match by a huge margin of 209 runs and Travis Head was awarded the Player of the Match award for his brilliant knock in the first innings where he scored 163 runs from 174 balls with 25 fours and one six in his innings.
