Former Kiwi cricketer Simon Doull expressed his worries about the new age Indian Batter like Shubman Gill and Yashavi Jaiswal. He has his takes on the nature of playing  Test cricket in India these days.

Matches usually get over within 2 days has fired up in recent times as the spin-friendly tracks in India also came under scrutiny. However, Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma has always taken solid stands on this matter.

Doull said he does not have any problems with this kind of turning tracks

Where the bowl spins from the very first day of the Test matches, Doull was very confident that because of this the young players will face many difficulties and will affect the young spinners. The Kiwi cricketer turned commentator discussed that it will be tough for the young players in India to match the Test average of Indian legendary players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag and  VVS Laxman

“The only thing I would say is how do these modern Indian batters, The Shubman Gills and the (Yashasvi) Jaiswals, get Test match double hundreds? You look at the careers of the previous Indian batters and the careers of these new Indian players, and you’d feel, ‘We don’t expect them to average 55, 54, 53, like the Tendulkars, the Dravids, the Sehwags, and the Laxmans’. That’s because they are playing on surfaces that are more spin-friendly on Day 1,” Doull said recently.

He also talked about England’s new approach to Bazball cricket and said that he didn’t like the term but surely enjoys the new approach of playing Test cricket.

“I don’t like the term. But the way they play, I enjoy. They will not change the way they play, and neither should they. It has been attractive; it has been a resurgence of Test cricket. I don’t think they will stop the way they play,” Simon Doull added.

“Will it work? It might be in a Test or two. I don’t think it will work over a five-Test series. (It’s not) good enough to beat an Indian side. I think we are in for a cracking Test series, and it will be entertaining no matter how it goes, but I don’t think they will be able to sustain it over a five-Test series,” he continued.
