Sports Minister Anurag Thakur tags wrong Neeraj Chopra in his congratulatory Tweet
Nine Sports personalities received the Padma Awards on the occasion of India’s 73rd Republic Day, including gold-medalist Neeraj Chopra. The past year has been great for Indian Sports, after some incredible displays in the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics in 2021.
While congratulating Devendra Jhajaria- the Padma Bhushan awardee, and Neeraj Chopra- The Padma Shri awardee- who won the gold medal for India in Javelin Throw- Sports Minister Anurag Thakur made a huge error.
In his tweet, instead of tagging the athlete Neeraj Chopra, Thakur accidentally tagged some other user with the same name. The athlete’s Twitter handle is @Neeraj_chopra1 but Thakur tagged @NeerajChopra in his post.
Here is Anurag’s Thakur’s tweet:
I am elated that Nine persons from the Sports fraternity, including @Devjhajharia and @NeerajChopra have been awarded #PadmaAwards this year.
My hearty congratulations to each one of them.Their contributions will definitely inspire others, particularly the budding sportspersons.
