Nine Sports personalities received the Padma Awards on the occasion of India’s 73rd Republic Day, including gold-medalist Neeraj Chopra. The past year has been great for Indian Sports, after some incredible displays in the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics in 2021.

While congratulating Devendra Jhajaria- the Padma Bhushan awardee, and Neeraj Chopra- The Padma Shri awardee- who won the gold medal for India in Javelin Throw- Sports Minister Anurag Thakur made a huge error.

In his tweet, instead of tagging the athlete Neeraj Chopra, Thakur accidentally tagged some other user with the same name. The athlete’s Twitter handle is @Neeraj_chopra1 but Thakur tagged @NeerajChopra in his post.

Here is Anurag’s Thakur’s tweet:

Neeraj Chopra took to social media to thank everyone for their wishes on winning the Padma Shri Award. He also congratulated every other winner of the Padma Awards.

Meanwhile, the Olympic Gold medalist is training at the Chul Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in the USA. He is preparing for the 2022 Common Wealth Games, Asia Games, and the World Athletics Championship.
