‘Sri Lanka ko harakr hero banenge hi ye’ – Fans react as Pakistan defeat Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs

At the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Thursday, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs in the second Test to win the two-match series. Pakistan posted a total of 576/5d thanks to Agha Salman’s quickfire 132 not out and Abdullah Shafique’s lengthy double ton. Sri Lanka failed to capitalize on a promising start and was bowled out for 188 in the second innings after being bowled out for 166 in the first. The best bowler was Noman Ali, who had seven wickets to his credit.

The Babar Azam-led side after this win have clean swept the Sri Lankan team 2-0 and this defeat was also the heaviest defeat in terms of runs. In fact, the match was also finished by the Pakistan team within three days and also keeping in mind that one of the days out of three days saw only ten over being bowled in the day. After a poor batting display in the first innings with the bat, the Sri Lankan team seem did not seem to have learned from their mistake and repeated the same mistakes again in the second innings.

This resulted in a big first-innings deficit for Sri Lanka of 410 runs. The Sri Lankan openers, on the other hand, got off to a quick start, scoring 69 runs in 18 overs at almost 4 runs per over. However, once Madushka left, the Lankans continued to lose wickets frequently, always to Noman Ali’s cunning, who had no wickets in the first innings.

As wickets kept falling at the other end, the sole resistance came from the seasoned No. 4, Angelo Mathews, who battled to the bitter end for his 63*. The first seven wickets of the innings were all taken by Noman, including Ramesh Mendis, who was the only one to provide Mathews with some assistance at the other end and put together a partnership of 36 for the seventh wicket. With this victory, Pakistan have now jumped to the number one spot in the World Test Championship Points table for the 2023-25 cycle.

Lets us look at how Twitter has reacted to this performance from the Pakistan team
