Sri Lanka have reached first place in the Test Championship table after securing a thumping 187 runs victory over West Indies at Galle. The home team thus have managed to leapfrog India in the points table on account of having a higher percentage of points (PCT). India have played more matches and have 26 points, but their PCT is 54.17.
Cricket’s governing body shared the updated points table. “Sri Lanka on top. The ICC #WTC23 points table after the first #SLvWI Test.”

Sri Lanka have only played one match and hence their PCT is hundred per cent. Speaking about the match, the Lankan Lions dominated West Indies throughout the game. Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne led from the front and scored 147 and 83 in the first and second innings respectively. In bowling, Lasith Embuldeniya and Ramesh Mendis were the pick of the bowlers, accounting for six and seven wickets respectively.

Meanwhile, for West Indies, it was a forgettable outing, especially in the batting department. The visitors could only manage to post 230 and 160 in the first and second innings respectively.

The Caribbeans are currently placed fourth on the table with 12 points and a PCT of 33.33. Their one win came against Pakistan. The second Test match between Sri Lanka and West Indies will be played from Monday (November 29). The points table will keep changing after every game.
