Star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been phenomenal in the last few years. He has been one of the biggest supporters of this Indian team. Jadeja has won many games with his amazing all-around performances. However, the ongoing Asia Cup has not produced any iconic moments for Jadeja till now.

He has taken just five wickets in three innings with the ball while scoring just 18 runs in two innings. Despite his sublime performance, Jadeja achieved a milestone on Tuesday. While playing against Sri Lanka, Jadeja dismissed opposition captain Dasun Shanaka. With this wicket, Jadeja became the highest wicket-taker for India in the history of the ODI Asia Cup. He eventually ended the game with two wickets and, overall, 24 wickets in 18 innings.

Ravindra Jadeja has surpassed legendary all-rounder Irfan Pathan, who has 22 wickets in 12 innings. The leading wicket-taker in Asia Cup history is ace Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan. He has taken 30 wickets in 24 innings. However, with Jadeja’s amazing performance, Indian bowlers bundled up Sri Lanka for 172/10 to book their tickets for the finals.

India ended Sri Lanka’s winning streak in one-day internationals

With this thumping victory, India ended Sri Lanka’s 13-match winning streak. They had the second-longest consecutive winning streak in ODIs. The Australian team remains at the top with 21 wins in ODIs. They achieved this from January 2003 to May 2003. Meanwhile, after a poor outing in the last two Asia Cups, India made it to the finals in 2023. The team will wait for the winner of the Sri Lanka vs. Pakistan match in the finals on Sunday.

Before the final match, the Indian team will face Bangladesh in their third Super 4 game at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on September 15. The Indian team might rest some key players as they have played three games in a row. The team will also look to keep their pacers fresh ahead of the prestigious ODI World Cup and Australia series.
