India’s star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been delivering again for India in the ongoing Delhi Test against Australia. The 36-year-old has picked up 3 wickets so far on the first day as the visitors lost 6 wickets under 170 runs. He took the wickets of Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, and Alex Carey.

Australian star batter Smith got out for a duck in the 23rd over by Ashwin just two balls after Labuschagne got tricked by the Indian spinner. Smith has a brilliant record against India in whites but hasn’t been able to deliver in the ongoing Test series. The 33-year-old scored 37 and 25 runs in the first Test and got tricked by Ashwin on the first day of the second Test. He tried to defend the ball but it found the edge of the bat and wicketkeeper KS Bharat collected the ball to remove the dangerous batter for a duck.

Smith had a great outing when the Aussies last time toured India in 2017. He scored 499 runs from the eight innings of four Test matches with an average of 71.28 including three centuries. Smith has the second-best average against India in Tests.

Talking about the Delhi Test, Usman Khawaja is currently the top scorer of the Australian innings with a knock of 81 runs from 125 balls, adding 50 runs with David Warner for the first wicket. He was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja after giving a catch to KL Rahul on his ball in the 46th over. Currently, Peter Handscomb is taking a charge for the visitors with a score of 36 off 75, along with the skipper Pat Cummins who is unbeaten on 23 off 31 as they scored 199 for 6 after the second session. Ashwin took 3 wickets for the hosts, while Ravindra Jadeja scalped one. Pacer Mohammed put 2 wickets in his bag.

India are currently leading in the four-match Test series by 1-0 after winning the first Test in Nagpur by an inning and 132 runs. Ravindra was adjudged player of the match for his allround performance.
