India’s ace spin bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, once again gave a stellar performance for India on the big stage. India and Australia are currently commencing their campaign for the ODI World Cup 2023 against each other at the M Chidambaram stadium (popularly known as the Chepauk stadium) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

In the 5th match of the ODI World Cup 2023, Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first, while India was aiming to dismiss the Australian batting lineup within a few runs to seal the victory in Chennai. Ravindra Jadeja took the responsibility well and took a three-wicket haul for the Indian cricket team as he dismissed the balanced top-order batsman Steven Smith, the Australian middle-order batsman Marnus Lambuchagne and the wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey.

Ravindra Jadeja took his first wicket in the match on the 1st ball of the 27th over, as he bowled out Australia’s former captain, Steven Smith, which completely left the latter, surprised as the ball saw a great turn. He then took two wickets back to back in the same consecutive over, to dismiss Marnus Lambuchagne and Alex Carey on 29.2 and 29.4 balls respectively.

Ravindra Jadeja recalled ODI World Cup 2011 victory heroics

“We had a practice session for IPL but it was cancelled as India were playing the World Cup final. All the teammates were sitting in the same room to watch the final. I still remember everything from that night. It was a very special moment for Indian cricket. There are a lot of expectations from the fans to win the World Cup, especially if it is happening in India,” said Ravindra Jadeja.

“The World Cup takes place every four years, and this one is more special as it’s being played in India. As players, we know the conditions in India. It’s surely a big advantage for us. Winning the 2023 World Cup will bring back the memories of the 2011 World Cup for the fans,” said Jadeja.
