‘The Flying Aussie’: Twitter reacts to Maxwell’s excellent fielding effort against Mumbai

Bangalore is taking on Mumbai in the 18^th match of the Indian T20 League 2022. The match is taking place at the MCA Stadium in Pune.

Bangalore won the toss and decided to field first, as has been the norm of the tournament. Mumbai has a brilliant start to their innings as the openers put up a 50 runs partnership within the first 7 overs. Rohit Sharma was the first wicket to fall for Mumbai in the 7^th over of the innings as he was dismissed by Harshal Patel. After this Mumbai experienced a collapse losing the next 5 wickets for just 29 runs.

One of these five wickets was that of Tilak Varma. It was the 10^th over of the Bangalore innings, bowled by Akash Deep. On the 5^th delivery of the over Varma tapped the ball towards short cover and scooted off for a single. Maxwell dove forward and threw the bowl to the stumps at the bowler’s end. Varma was well short of his ground and thus went back to the pavilion.

The excellent fielding on part of Maxwell elated the fans on Twitter and they started praising the Australian all-rounder. The speed and agility displayed by Maxwell was more than impressive and the fans were excited to see their effort from him.

Notably, Mumbai has lost all their 3 matches in the tournament so far, while Bangalore is carrying winning momentum into the match. But as far as the match is concerned Mumbai is 108 for 6 down in the 17^th over of their innings, and is looking down the ladder.
