After the Test series in the historic tour of Australia to Pakistan, the two teams are now playing an ODI series. In the first match of the series, Australia outplayed the hosts in all aspects of the game. This meant that with a win in the second ODI Australia would seal the series with a match left in the series.

In the second ODI, Babar Azam won the toss and opted to field first. Australian batter made the best of the excellent batting conditions and scored a mammoth 348 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 50 overs. Ben McDermott was the highest scorer with 104 runs off 108 deliveries. Pakistan replied strongly to the Aussies. A good start was provided by openers Fakhar Zaman (67 off 64) and Imam-Ul-Haq (106 off 97). The skipper of the team, Babar Azam built on the foundation and took his team to a 6 wickets victory with one over left to play. Azam scored 114 runs off 83 deliveries before being dismissed by Nathan Ellis. With the win in the second ODI, Pakistan drew level in the three-match ODI series.

After the match, former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi made a comment on Babar Azam’s performance on Twitter, which did not go down well with the fans. Afridi Tweeted – “Amazing WIN! Good start by @babarazam258 but lost his tempo, waiting for him to step up as a match-winner. Regardless, great overall performances by @KhushdilShah_@ImamUlHaq12@iShaheenAfridi You made us proud Keep it up, boys.”

The fans immediately responded to the veteran pointing out the fact Babar’s knock was a proper match-winning effort and they don’t understand his point of view.
