The much-awaited action for the next season of IPL 2024 will be conducted on 19th December in Dubai and the team franchisees are gearing up to inculcate and welcome new members in their squads. India’s former cricketer Akash Chopra highlighted the weakness of Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2024 auction and what they need to do to build a strong squad ahead of the tournament.

Delhi Capitals team franchise will enter the mini-auction with 28.95 crores with 15 players in their squad. While exclusively highlighting Delhi Capitals’ strategies in his recent video on his YouTube channel, Chopra discussed that Delhi will need to add middle-order batters and all-rounders to their squad as they released 11 players including four-star performers.

While questioning Delhi Capitals’ game plan after a problematic season in IPL 2023, Chopra said, “They have released Phil Salt, who was playing decently. They have released Rilee Rossouw and Rovman Powell as well. So who will bat down the order? They were a top-heavy team till last year and they are still a top-heavy team. So this team’s biggest problem is their lower-middle-order batting. They need lower-middle-order batters, so they will have to buy everyone who bats there,”

“They have released two left-arm pacers. They said they neither need Mustafizur Rahman nor Chetan Sakariya. They have left Kamlesh Nagarkoti as well. So they will have to buy fast bowlers because there is always a question about Anrich Nortje’s availability,” he added.

Delhi Capitals retained and released players’ list:

Retained Players List: Rishabh Pant, Pravin Dubey, David Warner, Vicky Ostwal, Prithvi Shaw, Anrich Nortje, Abishek Porel, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Lungi Ngidi, Lalit Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed, Mitchell Marsh, Ishant Sharma, Yash Dhull, Mukesh Kumar.

Released Players List: Rilee Rossouw, Chetan Sakariya, Rovman Powell, Manish Pandey, Phil Salt, Mustafizur Rahman, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Ripal Patel, Sarfaraz Khan, Aman Khan, Priyam Garg.
