Last weekend, Bangalore bought a total of 22 players in the mega auction. They had retained the likes of Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, and Glenn Maxwell last November. Dinesh Karthik will play for the team this year after 2015. The team also bought back Harshal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga, Akash Deep, Finn Allen, Shahbaz Ahmad, and Suyash Prabhudessai.

Patel won the Purple Cap last year with 32 wickets. The team has bought a few new Indian uncapped players such as Anuj Rawat, Mahipal Lomror, Aneeshwar Gautam, Luvnith Sisodia. The likes of Karn Sharma and Siddharth Kaul, who have played briefly for India, have also been included.  They have also bought some new overseas players such as Faf du Plessis, Josh Hazlewood, Sherfane Rutherford, Jason Behrendorff, and David Willey. The biggest problem for Bangalore going into the Indian T20 League is finding an apt skipper. Notably, Virat Kohli had stepped down from the role after the last season. Here are three players who can lead the team in the next season.

Three captaincy options for Bangalore this year

Virat Kohli

This might surprise you but Virat Kohli can also be an option to lead the team this year. Although, readers might suggest that he left the job last year to manage his workload, he isn’t the India captain anymore thus he can take back the Bangalore captaincy.  The 33-year-old has captained a team in the second most matches (140) after MS Dhoni (204).

In the 140 games he led, the three-time finalists won 64, lost 69, tied three and four games ended in no-result. Former India pacer Ajit Agarkar suggested that Kohli can lead the team if they don’t have enough options, ahead of the auction.
