Indian Women’s T20 challenge was first time introduced in 2018, that time there were only two teams. It was Indian Cricket Board President Sourav Ganguly who announced plans to establish a women’s version of the Indian Premier League (IPL) competition in India. Which is replacing the Women’s T20 Challenge.

In October 2022, the Indian Cricket Board announced that India was considering a five-team tournament instead of three teams which would take place in March 2023. This league was formally known as the Women’s T20 Challenge, Indian Cricket Board Secretary Jay Shah clarified that they officially named it the Women’s Premier League. Mumbai Indians was the winner of the first season. They have chased 132 successfully with three bowls left. After the success of the first season, we are looking forward to the second season with much more expectation. There will be some top-quality overseas players in WPL 2024.

The veteran all-rounder of the Srilanka women’s cricket team, Chamari Athapaththu has arguably been the backbone of the Srilanka Women’s Team for more than a decade now. She made her T20I debut in 2009 against India, she impressed heavily with her all-round performance. She is not only Brilliant in International T20s, but her contribution to WBBL has also been incredible. She played 51 matches in WBBL, scored 1063 runs and took 13 wickets, and she finished as the Player of the Tournament from WBBL 2023. She has some great records as a cricketer. She has scored 2651 runs in 122 T20I matches. She is all set to play for the UP Warriorz as a replacement for Lauren Bell.

Deandra Dottin was the first woman who scored a century in T20Is. Dottin is known for his explosive batting. The all-rounder of West Indies scored a 22-ball fifty against Australia in 2009. The 32-year-old cricketer from West Indies scored 2697 runs in 127 matches and took 62 wickets. She scored 786 runs in WBBL and picked up 31 wickets. She is one of the biggest names in Women’s Cricket.

The South Africa express quick bowler, Shabnim Ismail, will certainly be a name to watch out for in this WPL. She is one of the most seasoned campaigners in the women’s circuit, Shabnim took 123 wickets in 113 WT20Is while bowling, with a magnificent economy rate of 5.77. The 35-year-old fast bowler is also touted as the fastest bowler in women’s cricket. Her consistent speed was 123 to 128. He took 51 wickets in the WBBL too. That speed wizard of South Africa will be seen paying for the Mumbai Indians.

Young all-rounder for Australia Annabel Sutherland has been making all the right noises since her debut in the shorter format of the game. She debuted in 2020. She is a destructive hard-hitter of the ball alongside being a proper wicket-taker. The 23-year-old young all-rounder has already scored 1187 runs at a strike rate of 104.67 with three half-centuries under her belt. She took 82 wickets at an economy rate of 7.16. She plays for Gujrat Giant in WPL.

She is one of the greatest all-rounders in the game, The 33-year-old all-rounder from Australia has achieved great success both on and off the field. She was born on 3 November 1990, in Sydney. Perry has played 151 T20Is, scored 1841 runs and also took 125 wickets. She represented RCB (Royal Challenger Bangalore) jn WPL. She scored 253 runs in 8 matches and took 4 wickets in last year’s WPL.
