5. Mumbai Indians, 2014
Mumbai has been one of the most star-studded teams of the Indian T20 League. In the initial seasons, Mumbai failed to win any trophy despite having greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Harbhajan Singh, and Lasith Malinga. Although their fate changed in 2013 when they invested in a young and responsible captain Rohit Sharma. Rohit replaced Ponting in between the tournament and led Mumbai to their first glorious title victory.
However, in 2014 Rohit and co. failed to get a balance in the team due to massive changes in the team during auctions. The team lost all games during the UAE leg and was at the bottom of the points table. Meanwhile, League returned to India after the general elections and changed the fate of Mumbai. Mumbai managed to win the last four league matches including one against Rajasthan where they chased 190 runs in just 14.4 overs to make it into the playoffs.
