5. Royal Challengers Bangalore, 2016
The 2016 season of the Indian T20 League was a run feast for the Bangalore franchise as runs continued to flow from the bat of nearly every batsman. Then India captain Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers were the top two batsmen who smashed every opportunity out of the park. However, Bangalore had only won two of the first seven games because of poor bowling performances.
In the second half of the league, Bangalore won six out of seven games as their bowling unit improved amazingly. Some special bowling spells from Yuzvendra Chahal and Shane Watson helped them to make it into the finals.
In the final, Kohli and Gayle scored 110 runs in just 10 overs while chasing a massive 209 runs. However, after they were dismissed, the batting lineup just couldn’t keep up the run rate, and they ultimately fell 8 runs short of the goal and failed to win the much-deserved trophy.
