3. Australia against England in 1948

In the last series of Sir Donald Bradman, his side created history as they registered the third-highest chase in the history of red-ball cricket. In the fourth game of the 1948 Ashes, the visitors, the Aussies put up 496 in the first innings. 

After this, the home team reduced Australia’s lead by scoring 458 runs. After this, the Three Lions declared after scoring 365/8, setting a target of 404 runs. In reply, the likes of Arthur Morris (182) and Donald Bradman (173*)) helped the team chase down the target after losing only three wickets.
