Twitter reactions: Rajasthan steamroll Hyderabad to start Indian T20 League 2022 with a bang
Hyderabad and Rajasthan opened their campaign in the Indian T20 League at the D.Y. Patil Stadium. After winning the toss, Hyderabad elected to bowl first. The decision proved to be the right one after Bhuvneshwar Kumar managed to dismiss Jos Buttler in slips. In the shocking turn of events, Kumar had overstepped and Buttler got a reprieve from the disaster.
The no-ball fiasco didn’t end here. Kumar once again overstepped in the third over of the innings while bowling to Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal hit the next delivery, which was a free hit, for a four. Umran Malik also followed the footsteps of his senior pro in the fourth over of the innings. These things proved costly for the team as Rajasthan scored 58 runs in the powerplay.
However, the Men In Pink and Blue lost the openers in the seventh and ninth over of the innings. The quick wickets didn’t deter the run-making juggernaut of Rajasthan as skipper Sanju Samson (55) and Devdutt Padikkal (41) stitched a partnership of 73 runs. The latter was clean bowled by Malik when the scorecard read 148. The cameos from Shimron Hetmyer (32*) and Riyan Parag ensured the team reached the highest total of the season – 210/6.
In reply, the Orange Army got off to a horrendous start, thanks to Prasidh Krishna’s two wickets and Trent Boult’s one. They were tottering at 14/3 at the end of the powerplay. Yuzvendra Chahal took his first wicket for the franchise of Abhishek Sharma in the ninth over of the innings. The wickets kept falling as the team was reeling at 78/6 at one stage. The win for the team was completely out of question but the innings from Washington Sundar (40) and Aiden Markram (57) provided some respectability despite the loss.
This is how Twitter reacted
Rajasthan Royals improved their line-up massively. Their spin attack wasn't convincing. They got India's best Yuzi Chahal and a legend like Ashwin. They struggled in finishing with Riyan and Tewatia. They got the best finisher from last season in Hetmyer.
Well done

Hard to enjoy every other bowler swing the ball from one end to the other when you've got a 14Cr swinger in the NCA.
