Twitter reactions: Vintage Dhoni on display but Kolkata too good for Chennai in Indian T20 League opener

Chennai and Kolkata faced off against each other in the first match of the Indian T20 League 2022. Much to the disappointment of the fans, the clash turned out to be a one-sided affair. The Kolkata skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to field first, citing the onset of dew in the latter half of the game. Chennai depended heavily on their openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway to give them a good start. But that did not happen and Chennai lost both their openers within the first five overs for 28 runs. Chennai never got going in their innings and was languishing at 84 for 5 after 17 overs. MS Dhoni lived up to his reputation of being the best finisher and scored a half-century off 38 deliveries. In the last three overs, Chennai scored 47 runs to reach a fighting total of 131 runs.
Kolkata began the chase very nicely with the openers putting up 43 runs for the first wicket. Ajinkya Rahane scored a beautiful 44 off 34 deliveries. They faced a hiccup in their chase when they lost Nitish Rana and Rahane in quick succession. But Skipper Shreyas Iyer and Sam Billings ensured that they do not have any further troubles. With Jackson at the other end Shreyas Iyer guided Kolkata to a 6 wickets victory.
As the match ended fans were seen lauding MS Dhoni’s half-century on social media. But the fact that it went in vain was disappointing for some. While a group of fans felt that Kolkata look different under their new leader. Here is how the fans reacted on Twitter.
