Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) will face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday, May 16. As such, MI will have a straight chance at winning the game and qualifying for the playoffs of IPL 2023. At the same time, LSG need to win desperately if they want to stay alive in the competition. LSG are currently placed fourth in the IPL 2023 standings.

Amid all the tension, a Rohit Sharma fan tried his best to provide the hitman a moment of respite with a digital portrait of the opening batter. The image of the portrait went viral on social media and other fans have reacted to it plentifully. Notably, the IPL is not the end of the road for Rohit. Right afterwards, he will be expected to lead India in the Test Championship final.

Rohit Sharma has a horrible IPL 2023 as a batter

However, Rohit Sharma hasn’t enjoyed a great campaign. He has been largely inconsistent with his batting and that makes it really difficult for Indian supporters to keep their calm moving into a crucial Test Championship final that their team has lost the last time out.

Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri wants the seasoned batters like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to take a backseat in T20 International matches, suggesting a changing of the guard. “First T20 series that comes up, play these guys [the youngsters], expose these guys. They [the selectors] should start blooding them right now,” Shastri said on ESPNcricinfo’s Runorder show, when asked about how soon players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jitesh Sharma and Tilak Varma should get a promotion.

“Players like Rohit, Virat Kohli, they are proven, you know what they are all about. I would go in that [good performers in the IPL] direction so that they get the opportunities, they get the exposure, whilst you keep the Virats and the Rohits fresh for one-day cricket and Test cricket. Your focus there with that kind of experience should move to Test cricket, red-ball cricket for the future Test Championship, and they stay fresh [so that] there is not too much of cricket where there is an overkill.”
