‘Very Underrated English Batsman’ – Fans react as Dawid Malan becomes fastest player to score 6 ODI centuries
England’s top order batsman Dawid Malan recently scored a century and shined bright during the team’s match against Bangladesh. England and Bangladesh are currently locking horns for the seventh March of the ODI World Cup, 2023 at the Himachal Pradesh cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala.
Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl first and the English cricket team set a huge target as they collectively scored 364 runs after losing nine wickets. The innings will definitely give the English batsmen a boost after their previous loss against New Zealand in the first match of the ODI World Cup, 2023.
Dawid Malan scores quick century against Bangladesh
Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan walked the crease to bat first and scored 52 and 140 runs off 59 and 107 runs with a strike rate of 88.14 and 130.84 respectively. Jonny Bairstow smashed eight boundaries to score quick runs for the team. While the Bangladesh bowlers were not prepared for the Dawid Malan Show! Dawid Malan brutally thrashed the Bangladesh bowlers for 16 fours and five sixes before he was bowled by Mehedi Hasan.
Dawid Malan created several records with his striking innings against Bangladesh as he became the fastest batsman in the history of the game to score 6 ODI centuries as he achieved the milestone within 23 innings. The 36-year-old also became the oldest English batsmen to score a century in the World Cup.
Bangladesh dismissed 9 English batsmen, but could not restrict them from scoring runs. At number three Joe Root scored 82 runs off 68 deliveries with a strike rate of 120.59 as he hit 8 fours and a six.
Bangladesh will now have to chase a target of 365 runs in 50 overs to register another victory in the ODI World Cup, 2023. Previously, the team won their first match against Afghanistan on 7 October on the same pitch of Dharamsala.
