After winning the three-match T20I series against England at a margin of 2-1, India kicked off their ODI series against England on 12 July 2022. India started the series with a bang as they thrashed England by winning the match by 10 wickets.

However, on the eve of the series opener, India dealt with a blow as Virat Kohli got ruled out due to a groin injury. Despite not having this star player in the team, India managed to win this match with ease. But, now it is being tipped that Virat is most likely to miss the next match also.

Virat Kohli is yet to recover from the groin injury – Indian Cricket Board’s Sources

According to ANI sources of the Indian Cricket Board, this star batter is yet to recover from the groin injury. Hence, he is most likely to miss the second ODI against England at Lord’s on Thursday.

It will be a huge blow for Kohli and the Team as this series is crucial ahead of the next World Cup in 2023. From an individual perspective, it will be a major setback for Virat as he was looking to get back in his form in this series. Now, if he fails to play the second match, only one match will be there for him in this series as he is going to be rested from the upcoming ODI series against West India, later this month.

Speaking about the first ODI match, India won the toss and asked England to bat first. But, Indian pacers were in red-hot form as they bundled out them on 110 runs in just 25.2 overs. In reply, Indian openers remained unbeaten to chase down the target easily. Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the show as he picked up his career-best spell of six wickets by conceding only 19 runs in just 7.2 overs.

India will look to wrap up the series at Lord’s when they will lock horns with England on Thursday, 14 July 2022.
